Respiration Portuaire
Le port de commerce de Sète est à l'origine de la création de la ville en 1666.
Depuis lors, il n'a cessé de se développer, il s'est peu à peu sécurisé, et même si il est omniprésent dans l'esprit des sétois, peu en connaissent son quotidien. C’est une enclave au sein de la ville qui ne laisse passer que ses bruits, ses odeurs et les allers-retours de bateaux visibles au loin.
De ces ces paysages lunaires apparaissent un monde onirique, des cales de bateaux aux engins qui parcourent le port.
Le port est un lieu qui se vide et se remplit telle une respiration régulière. La nuit, il se met au repos.
Ce travail a été réalisé avec Cécile Février, réalisatrice sonore, dans le but d'un Petit Objet Multimédia. Le Musée de la mer de Sète en a fait l'acquisition.
The commercial port of Sète was the birthplace of the town in 1666.
Since then, it has grown steadily, gradually becoming more secure, and even though it is omnipresent in the minds of the people of Sète, few are familiar with its daily life. It's an enclave in the heart of the town, where only the noise, the smells and the comings and goings of boats can be seen in the distance.
Because its activity is not very different from that of other ports in France, it was important to approach this photographic project in a very personal way.
So the intention was to send these lunar landscapes back to a dream world, from the boat holds to the machines that move around the port, to talk about people while showing their environment. The port is a place that empties and fills like a regular breath. At night, it is at rest.
In 2016, we will be celebrating the 350th anniversary of the port of Sète.
This work was carried out with Cécile Février, a sound producer, with a view to producing a Small Multimedia Object. The Musée de la mer in Sète has acquired it.
